Forest Hill, MD - The Fifth Annual Rally for RAACE Motorcycle Ride, KobbFest and Family Fun Day to raise awareness and funds to eliminate child sexual abuse hit its stride with a home run event on Sunday August, 8th.
The 5th Annual event exceeded expectations yet again from the RALLY rides starting point at Jones Junction in Bel Air, MD to the winding trail of thunder, steel, and chrome across Harford County, MD to all of the crazy hot rods and custom cars and bikes of KobbFest to the thousands of families that took part in the Family Fun Day at Chesapeake Harley-Davidson, it is evident that all in attendance know that it is Time to Talk about Child Abuse with The RAACE Foundation.
The event generated over $20,000 for the healing and prevention of child sexual abuse, Tim Montoya was the highest fundraiser as well as the one who made the largest single donation. As in past years, the RALLY ride started at Jones Junction in Bel Air, MD, then snaked through the beautiful tree lined hills of Harford County for nearly 56 miles before ending at Chesapeake Harley-Davidson in Darlington. This time, however, the event had a very interesting twist as the parade of chrome and steel arrived at Chesapeake Harley-Davidson they found KobbFest - a huge custom car and bike show, an even bigger circus tent with The RAACE Foundations giant Time to Talk gaming wheel and display and even more fun, flavorful and exciting vendors than ever before.
To the favor of all the charioteers, their passengers and the huge crowd, Amelia of 98Rock fame kicked off the event in style as the official spokesperson of the event. Most importantly though, she encouraged everyone to join TeamRAACE in The Race Against Abuse of Children Everywhere and continue to show the world that we need to expose this hidden epidemic of child sexual abuse.
According to The RAACE Foundation Founder, Kenneth Smith: We spent a lot of time and energy this year making sure we held an event that everyone would enjoy, talk about and attend next year. We want to foster growth of our family/town fair kind of event we started last year and built on for this year. For the first time I feel like we presented an event that everyone, not just motorcyclists could enjoy. From the addition of KobbFest to the huge big top style circus tent to get everyone out of the sun and our giant Time to Talk gaming wheel and display, the great selection of vendors and food, everyone relaxed and enjoyed spending their day with The RAACE Foundation, their family and friends. Thanks to everyone who had a part in making this a special day for The RAACE Foundation.
According to Executive Director Brad Brickel: We ended up with over 500 riders, around 100 cars(50 cars entered the 50/50 peoples choice car show) and a little over 2000 people participating in the RALLY ride, KobbFest and the Family Fun Day at Chesapeake Harley on the weekend of August 8th, our best showing to date. Seeing that many people supporting The RAACE Foundation on such a beautiful day was remarkable, you always wish for glorious weather on a day like this but this one was the best ever. It's given us a lot to look forward to for next year and even more ideas to grow the event.
A record 26 motorcycle groups from the Mid-Atlantic area showed their support for The RAACE Foundation by riding in the Rally ride. The group with the most participants and the most donations was Chesapeake H.O.G. and Buffalo Bills MC traveled the farthest to participate, riding over 90 miles to join in The 5th Annual RALLY for RAACE. We had several raffle winners: Debbie Trent won the Baltimore Iron Works custom Bench, Charlotte Lafferty won Kobbies Kustom Toolbox, JP won Kobbies autographed pin stripe book, and Dawn Bentz won the custom Baja Motorsports scooter with custom paint by Mark Brown Studios. Harold Blevins won the peoples choice 50/50 car show with his 1969 Red & White Striped Chevy Camaro SS, while James Keefer won the most beautiful beater trophy with his flat black Chevy S-10 pick up truck. Fallston Volunteer Fire Co. won the peoples choice flag display, Freddie Eggers won the 50/50 Peoples Choice Bike Show with his 2007 H-D Wide Glide and Amelia won the best bobber trophy from Kobbies Kustoms.
Sharing their foundation's message that the only path to prevention is awareness were TeamRAACE members Brian & Ashley Therien with their Jr. Dragsters, Doug Horn, Ryan Rost with his Sandy Hook points leading go-Kart as well as TeamRAACE driver Barry Bunker with his super comp dragster. All of the racers were out spreading awareness of child sexual abuse, signing autographs and showing off their RAACE vehicles. Meanwhile lines formed at booths at the Family Fun Day event where kids and adults alike could play Wii video games and roll around on Hamster Balls from Games 2U, purchase Ribs, Wings, Pit Beef and more from SteelHorse Restaurant, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers and more from Darlington Fire Dept., Pizza from Seasons Pizza, face painting, temporary Tattoos, jewelry and winning cash and prizes from The RAACE Foundations giant Time to Talk Wheel and more.
