Forest Hill, MD – “We have decided to cancel our Educate Harford County activities with The “Giant Wheel” at Ripken Stadium’s Aberdeen IronBirds games this weekend. While we seem to have ok weather in store for Friday, the forecasts for Hurricane Irene go downhill considerably for Saturday. We discussed the option of building the wheel for Friday’s game and tearing it down Saturday morning, because obviously the Saturday Night Game would be cancelled. However, the IronBirds have just moved the start time to 12pm for Saturday’s game in an effort to beat the storm. Because of that decision The “Giant Wheel” will not become the “Giant PinWheel” this weekend. There simply would not be enough time to take it down and not interfere with Saturday’s start time,” said The RAACE Foundation’s Executive Director Brad Brickel.
The RAACE Foundation is working hard to find other ways to Educate Harford County both in 2011 and beyond. The RAACE Foundation is making plans to distribute the rest of their “Educate Harford County” program Parents Guide’s in an effort to stop this terrible epidemic in our home town.
The RAACE Foundations “Time to Talk” display uses boardwalk/carnival style gaming as a way to slow people down, in order to talk about Child Sexual Abuse and distribute the new “Time to Talk” Parents Guide to Protecting Your Child From Sexual Abuse.”
The RAACE Foundation wants to acknowledge all of the Educate Harford County 2011 sponsors for making the 2011 campaign a huge success! Educate Harford County title sponsor Korey Homes along with wheel sponsors 84 Lumber, 84 Components, The Bel Air Downtown Alliance, Smith & Smith Excavating, Smyth Jewelers, Ground Loop, Northeastern Supply, Harford Rental, Long & Foster Real Estate Agents Kristin Natarajan & Denise Patrick, Clearwater Pool and Spa, MJL Realty, MetLife, The Donate Your Ride for RAACE Program, Maryland Concrete Foundations Inc., Christopher J Salon & Stylist Kristine Smith North, Real Estate Title & Escrow, Weikel Sportswear, tcby, Schmitz Press, Bel Air Carpet, Horne Concrete, Jarvis Appliance, M-N-M Custom Plumbing, Jones Junction, Chesapeake Harley-Davidson and The Forest Hill Airport Industrial Park all felt that distribution of The RAACE Foundations new “Time to Talk Parents Guide” was the tool to help you protect your child.
Experts agree that if children are comfortable talking openly with their parents they are more outwardly confident and less likely to become victims of sexual abuse. Additionally, they are more likely to disclose at the first sign of an abusive situation.
The RAACE Foundation’s Awareness Station will be in action next weekend within The Family Fun Zone at The Baltimore Grand Prix, Friday September 2nd – Sunday September 4th. Those that support The RAACE Foundation know that until every child is safe from abuse our RAACE has no finish line. Awareness is the first step.
