Bill Bateman's Bistro, home of "Baltimore's Best Wings" hosted the 3rd Annual Bill Bateman's Bistro of Havre De Grace Roast for RAACE, Thursday December 4th. Bill Bateman's Bistro is committed to supporting its communities and neighbors. "Our charitable mission is simple: We believe in developing strong relationships within our community, ones that will support local charities, like The Race Against Abuse of Children Everywhere” said Christian Giansante Franchise Owner.

2008 marks the first year that Bill Bateman’s Bistro hosted this “Bull Roast” extravaganza raising money for The RAACE Foundation through an exciting memorabilia/sporting event ticket auction and a percentage of restaurant ticket sales. “This year, The Roast for RAACE generated over $1,000 for the healing and prevention of child sexual abuse. We hope to double and preferably triple that next year” said The RAACE Foundation Director of Development Brad Brickel.

The RAACE Foundation (Race Against Abuse of Children Everywhere), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization is dedicated to fighting the epidemic of child sexual abuse through public awareness campaigns and the distribution of educational materials. By utilizing the world’s most popular spectator activity – motorsports, The RAACE Foundation is working hard to alert the public about the prevalence of this horrible epidemic.

The 2008 All Harley Drag Racing Association Rush Pro Fuel Champion and RAACE Foundation Family of Drivers Member Douglas Horne, an Aberdeen, MD resident was on hand signing posters for the first time as a national champion, or simply: “PF1”. Baltimore area favorites Flipside provided live music and admission was free.

There was a charity Raffle for RAACE including signed NFL memorabilia signed by Cardinals QB Kurt Warner, The Rookie Class of The 2008 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tony Stewart, Stevie Smith and sporting event tickets that included NASCAR at Dover and Baltimore Ravens tickets.

Bill Bateman’s Bistro of Havre De Grace wants you to know that it will take courage, determination and the efforts of many to make a difference in the fight against child sexual abuse. According to Franchise owner Christian Giansante: “Helping The RAACE Foundation stop Child Sexual Abuse is a top priority for me and my staff. We look forward to a long relationship with RAACE and as a new Harford County, MD business we couldn’t ask for a better opportunity to get the word out to the public about our great new location and a worthy Harford County charity.”

There are an estimated 39 million survivors of child sexual abuse that exist in America today. Statistics indicate that 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 boys are sexually abused before the age of 18. Only when the problem of sexual abuse is faced openly can we hope to protect our children.
