Strap on that helmet, clean those sunglasses, fill up that gas tank and get to Chesapeake Harley-Davidson in Darlington Saturday, May 2nd for the best damn poker run ever to benefit The Race Against Abuse of Children Everywhere! The Chesapeake HOG (Harley Owners Group) Chapter and Chesapeake H-D, both long time supporters of The RAACE Foundation present a great way to be free to ride our machines and at the same time raise awareness about child sexual abuse.

Wikipedia defines a Poker run (also known as a Poker Derby), as an organized event using a motorcycle, where participants travel over a predesignated route and at designated stops on the route, draw a playing card. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run. Prizes are awarded for the best hand. Poker runs require a fee to enter; part of the fee goes to funding the event (including the prizes), while the rest goes to the events cause. Specific rules and details vary, depending on the event. Moreover, each participant will be responsible to maintain the integrity of their cards during the run. Registration for The RAACE Foundation benefit Poker Run will be at Chesapeake Harley-Davidson Saturday, May 2nd from 9:30 am – 11:30 am and costs just $10. After drawing their first card, riders will take a reasonable route of about 55 miles. The route will include three stops with the final card being pulled back at Chesapeake H-D where everyone will throw down their five card hand. The 1st stop will be at Wesley’s Restaurant & Cocktails, 3700 Telegraph Rd. in Elkton, MD. The 2nd stop will be at Rendezvous Brothers Bar & Restaurant, 362 Front St. in Perryville, MD, and finally the 3rd stop will be at Jimmy’s Old School Tavern, 3403 Conowingo Rd. in Street, MD.

Hopes are that the last bike will be in by 3:30 pm to see who has the best hand, claim cash prizes, etc… The Chesapeake HOG Chapter will supply the decks, tally sheets, maps, etc… and will have them available at pre-registration.

This would also be a good time to pre-register for the 4th Annual RALLY for RAACE Motorcycle Ride and Family Fun Day. On Sunday, August 16th, a police escorted 53-mile motorcycle ride will take a beautifully scenic tour through Harford County, Maryland. The ride, once again starting at Jones Junction in Bel Air will go through picturesque landscapes, sprawling horse farms, rambling hills, and expansive wood-scapes before finishing at the huge family fun day at Chesapeake Harley-Davidson in Darlington. Only those who pre-register will receive the cool Rally event tee shirt and free breakfast.

Yet the roar of the engines, the huge stars and stripes, and the good cheer of Harley owners and motorcycle enthusiasts can’t eliminate the pain of a child suffering from sexual abuse. But with the help of riders, racers, fans, and organizations like The Chesapeake HOG Chapter and Chesapeake Harley-Davidson, The RAACE Foundation can educate adults so no other child has to suffer the same silent fate. The RAACE Foundation and those who support their goal to Race Against Abuse of Children Everywhere know that until every child is safe from abuse our RAACE has no finish line.
