It seemed like the 2010 version of The Timonium Motorcycle Show would be snowed out. But thanks to the tireless plow & shovel work of many, The Mid-Atlantic survived the twin blizzards of 2010. With record amounts of snow fall and huge rock like outcroppings of plow remnants everywhere, tens of thousands of Motorcycle enthusiasts from up and down the east coast beat cabin fever by heading to this annual Mecca of motorcycling lifestyle.
For the fourth year in a row The RAACE Foundation was in attendance to promote our 5th Annual RALLY for RAACE Motorcycle Ride and Family Fun Day event presented by Jones Junction and Chesapeake Harley-Davidson on Sunday August 8th, 2010. Except this time it was with the "Giant Wheel"! "Many thought it was some kind of snow plowing Transformer Mega-Bot, but no - it's just our "Time to Talk" awareness station" said Founder Kenneth Smith.
The 22ft high gaming wheel just barely fit inside the halls of The Cow Palace. "It was a huge success as attendees and vendors alike stopped by to try their luck to win some bucks as well as gather information about The RAACE Foundation and our annual ride - The RALLY for RAACE. Most importantly though, The 2010 Timonium motorcycle show was an awesome opportunity to network with some of the best bike builders, manufacturers and suppliers in the country" said Smith. "We need their horsepower to help us let everyone know that it is "Time to Talk" about child sexual abuse" Smith continued.
Why "Time to Talk"? Simply stated with 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 7 boys being sexually abused before the age of 18 - it is time to talk. With only 1 in 10 kids telling of their abuse - it is time to talk. With over 39 million survivors of child sexual abuse in our country today - it is time to talk. And with the knowledge that this epidemic can be stopped simply with awareness and education - it is definitely "Time to Talk"!
Armed with 20+ sponsors: Chesapeake Harley-Davidson, Jones Junction, Steel Horse Pit Beef of Aberdeen, Md, Lucas Oil by Jeff Kundratic, Horne Concrete, Korey Homes, CSU-Construction, Lezzer Lumber, No More Stolen Childhoods, The Baltimore Child Abuse Center, KAT Graphics, Captain Dee Foundation, Simpson, The American Indoor Football Association, The Lehigh Valley Grand Prix, Sub Stop in New Oxford, Cecil County Dragway, Ashley Mulligan Web Design, JS Graphics, Weikel Sportswear, Forest Hill Industrial Airpark, Emergency Vehicle Maintenance, and The American Racing Mower Association; The RAACE Foundation was able to take their giant wheel and the message of child sexual abuse awareness and education to this awesome event.
Many of the shows stars and celebrities signed a special space on the wheel. Signee's included Supermodel Coco, J Woww from MTV's The Jersey Shore, 98 Rocks Christine Dunstan, Builders Dave & Jody Perewitz, Jeff Kessel of Independent Cycles East, Dave Kundratic, Redneck Engineering's Vince Doll, Paul from Charm City Choppers, NFL Hall of Fame Super Fan - Baltimore Ravens Captain Dee-Fence, and Racing Legend Gary Nixon.
