The Chopper Chick Crew with their 2007 charity bike to
benefit breast cancer research
The Chopper Chick Crew, seen on NBC's The Today Show building a Harley-Davidson bike to benefit The Boys and Girls Club, will be doing another live bike build: this time with purple and yellow parts.
In the past, the Chopper Chick Crew has done live bike builds to donate some high profile non-profit organizations. These include The Today Show build and the 2007 Build to Find a Cure at the Daytona International Speedway.
For each bike build, the Chopper Chick Crew solicits donations of hardware, parts and paint. The crew, Chickie, Jayme, JoAnn, Sarah, Kate, Gypsy, Jena and Ajax, then races against their own personal time to build a ride ready Harley-Davidson. When the bike is complete, the bike is then donated to the chosen charity.
This year the bike will be built on Friday August 29 as part of the Women's Day Event during the House of Harley's Reunion Bash, an event that rides beside the Harely-Davidson 105th Ride Home Celebration August 27-September 1. Following the build, which the Crew hopes will break their current record of less than 6 hours, the bike will be donated to The RAACE Foundation. The national attention the Chopper Chick Crew attracts will certainly benefit The RAACE Foundation, especially among the all important female audience.
For the next year, the bike will tour the country as part of the RAACE to Raise $2,000,000 fundraising campaign tour. The bike will appear at different tracks across the United States during the 2008-2009 racing season.
"It's a real honor that Athena and the Chopper Chick Crew have found our cause worthy of their attention and talents," says Founder Ken Smith. "We're still looking for the best way to put their gift to use for the benefit of The RAACE Foundation. Once that solution has been found, we'll let our RAACE Fans know. It's really just great to get a donation that will attract attention to our efforts and create more opportunities for us to raise awareness about child sexual abuse."
