The Annual Poker Run was a Success!
Essex, MD - On Saturday, May 15th, 2010 the Bayriders Motorcycle Club and Laidback Lenny's Bar and Grill of Essex, MD held their annual poker run to benefit The Race Against Abuse of Children Everywhere. "The RAACE Foundation has been working hard in the motorcycle community to raise awareness of this terrible epidemic and we wanted to help them" Said Bayriders President Bryan Matthews.

On Monday, June 14th, Bayriders Motorcycle Club President Bryan Matthews and Road Captain Charlie Supik visited the RAACE Foundation offices in Forest Hill, MD to deliver the check and discuss other ways in which their club can help spread the word. The poker run had over 60 motorcycles participate with 78 riders signing up. $2 from each rider went to The Race Against Abuse of Children Everywhere. Also making additional contributions to The RAACE Foundation on behalf of the event & The Bayriders where The Maryland Fish and Game Protection Association and the Knights of The Road Motorcycle Club. The Sunnyside Motorcycle Club from Lebanon, PA and the Freedom Riders Club of Baltimore helped organize the event and both brought the most riders for a club.

"The Bayriders Motorcycle Club has been in existence for 32 years" said President Bryan Matthews. Charlie Supik added: "If you would like to join, you must be over 21 and own a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle over 750cc. I can be contacted at 410-967-2704 for more information on joining The Bayriders Motorcycle Club or helping with our poker run next year. In fact we held the first all Harley drags at Cecil County Dragway back in 1986 and we had a lot of fun. (Looking at Pictures of TeamRAACE driver Doug Horne on his Nitro powered Harley at Cecil County hanging on The RAACE Foundation's conference room wall.)"

The Poker Run was excellent; we had great weather and no incidents. We travelled about 130 miles leaving Laidback Lenny's Bar & Grill around noon then stopping at Albanstown Inn in Hareford, MD, Maryland Line Inn, Jimmie's Old School Tavern, and Rustic Inn in White Marsh, MD before returning to Laidback Lenny's Bar & Grill to tally the hands around 6 pm. A pair of Aces and tens took the jackpot!

"Since 2005 the RAACE Foundation has been holding their RALLY for RAACE Charity Motorcycle Ride and Family Fun Day event in Harford County, MD home to their National Headquarters. With 2010 being the 5th Anniversary, the Bayriders and Laidback Lenny's wanted to give back to the organization that has been giving so much valuable information about the epidemic of child sexual abuse back to the community. We left information on RAACE with every rider and at every place we stopped along the run. Hopefully we did some good. We are already looking forward to next years run and being able to work with Ken Smith and his great charity. We would also like to thank everyone who rode, hosted, or participated in making our run successful" Bryan added.
