season this weekend

TeamRAACE driver Doug Horne starts his 2010 NHRA Pro-Stock Motorcycle season this weekend, March 12th - 14th at the 41st Annual Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals. Located near Florida's Gulf Coast, Gainesville Raceway opened in 1969 and held its first Gatornationals event in 1970. Long considered one of the fastest tracks on the NHRA circuit, it was from this legendary launch point that drivers clocked the first 260, 270, and 300 mph Top Fuel runs. It is also the location that launched Doug Horne's professional motorcycle drag racing career.

In March 2006, Douglas competed in his first ever motorcycle drag race at Gainesville in the All Harley Drag Racing Association (AHDRA) on his new 2006 V-ROD Destroyer. In March of 2007, Douglas stepped up to the NITRO Pro Fuel Class at Gainesville, where he was able to obtain his NITRO license with a 7.08 pass, shutting off early. In March of 2008, Douglas started his national championship assault and dedicated his motorsports career to a higher cause at Gainesville as Horne Racing donated their program to The RAACE Foundation by joining TeamRAACE. In March of 2009 Doug started his NHRA Pro-Stock Motorcycle career at Gainesville showing everyone he was a drag racer to contend with by qualifying for his first ever NHRA finals the first time out.

When The 2009 NHRA Pro-Stock Motorcycle season ended Doug had certainly made a big impression on everyone in the drag racing world, from fans to fellow racers alike. His 5th place finish in points proved that Doug is a title contender. NHRA Full Throttle drag racing can be seen on ESPN2 throughout the season. Join TeamRAACE and The RAACE Foundation in cheering for Doug this weekend, we know his first NHRA victory is just around the corner.

"Having the opportunity to race on this stage means a lot to me and my family, we have worked very hard to get Horne Racing to this point. Of course we could always use more sponsors to help our team get from race to race and we know what it means to The RAACE Foundation to be out here on the national level educating fans and families about the epidemic of child sexual abuse. The only way to stop it is to talk about it and the only way for me to advance my career is to go rounds. The two go hand in hand." A smiling Doug Horne said. "I've been racing pretty well so far in my career and I know my family and my team have played a big role in that. I'm just glad I can get out there for my sponsors and The RAACE Foundation. We need to bring awareness to the forefront of our society and let everyone know about how all too common child sexual abuse is" Horne added.
