Ashley is off to a great start!
Englishtown, NJ - Ashley Therien started her 2010 racing season the same way she ended her 2009 season, in victory lane. This past Sunday Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ held its first NHRA Jr. Drag Racing series event of the season and TeamRAACE drivers Brian and Ashley Therien were on hand with Division 1 titles on their minds.

After spending much of the season displaying their RAACE Foundation Jr. Dragsters at Race Car Shows from Motorsports 2010 to The Reading Fairgrounds Racing Reunion and actively recruiting new members for TeamRAACE while forwarding The RAACE Foundation's mission and vision; it was finally time to hit the famed New Jersey drag strip and hit the go peddle.

With several test and tune passes as well as qualifying runs behind them, they had a chance to work out all of the new parts and equipment before the final rounds. Brian was first to go up to the line. In a wild peddle fest that had everyone looking around for a full moon; Brian came out on the loosing end by just .001 of a second. Wow, that's a drag race!

Ashley however had much better luck with a win and a bye to get into the finals. Although the bye was quite an adventure, in NHRA rules to win a bye you must stage the car and take the green. Well - just as Ashley did her burnout, the clutch linkage came apart giving her just enough to take the green, shut it down and get a push behind the wall.

Ashley then went on to win the finals but not without issue! According to crew chief and father Dave Therien: "This win was all driver, I screwed up the dial in after the burn out.
Ashley is off to a great start!
I realized I messed up and it was too late to change the setup. I leaned in the car and told Ashley to lift at 500 ft. out, she asked how much and I said A LOT! We dialed an 8.37 and she drove to an 8.374. Ashley scrubbed off 18 mph at the end of the run to do that - hard on the brakes and got the win." Excited Dave Therien continued: "The crew chief screwed that one up royally - ALL DRIVER"!

The RAACE Foundation would like to thank the Therien family for all they do throughout the course of a season to educate those on The NHRA Jr. Dragster circuit about the terrible epidemic of child abuse as we wish them continued success throughout the 2010 racing season.
