TeamRAACE Driver Stevie Buckwalter Takes Night One of Indiana Midget Week

The 2010 USAC "Indiana Midget Week" opened on Wednesday night, June 16th, at Gas City I-69 Speedway, where TeamRAACE and ARDC midget driver Stevie Buckwalter beat the best that USAC midget racing has to offer for his first ever USAC victory.
Stevie Buckwalter took the lead on the 5th circuit of the 30 lap USAC Mopar National Midget feature and drove off to win opening night of Indiana Midget Week at Gas City I-69 Speedway. 37 midgets including fellow TeamRAACE driver Billy Pauch, Jr., filled the pits on a beautiful evening that saw a big crowd pack the stands. After Bryan Clauson set a new track record for the midgets in time trials, heats for the midgets were won by Chad Boat, Steve Buckwalter, Darren Hagen and Brad Kuhn while Jerry Coons Jr. picked up the semi.
Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, IN was the Thursday night, June 17 venue . Brad Sweet of Grass Valley, Calif. led the last 12 laps to win the 30-lap Indiana Midget Week feature in his Kasey Kahne Racing/Mike Curb Ollie's Bargain Outlet/Auto Value Spike/Speedway Mopar powered midget. Sweet trailed Darren Hagen for 18 laps, then took over and beat Shane Cottle to the checkered flag. Hagen finished third, followed by Brad Kuhn and TeamRAACE driver Stevie Buckwalter, while fellow TeamRAACE driver Billy Pauch, Jr. finished 22nd.

Sweet's victory puts him atop the Indiana Midget Week standings entering Friday night's race at Bloomington Speedway. Brad Sweet has 139 points followed closely by Stevie Buckwalter in second with 126 points, Brad Kuhn has 121, Bobby East – 108, and Darren Hagen with 99 is in fifth place.

The next race for the 2010 Indiana Midget week is Friday, June 18 at Bloomington Speedway, followed by Saturday nights, June 19 event at the ultra fast Lawrenceburg Speedway, with the series closer Sunday night, June 20 at the Kokomo Speedway.
