Minersville, PA - Big Diamond Raceway and its Modified, Sportsman, and Roadrunner rank and file have long been supporters of The RAACE Foundation, TeamRAACE and their mission of child sexual abuse awareness. From TeamRAACE driver Kyle Weiss who's race car has sported The RAACE Foundation's purple and yellow color scheme for over three seasons to the Kody Sites in the roadrunners, Darryl Dissinger in the sportsman, many have and continue to run the colors in support of The Race Against Abuse of Children Everywhere.
On Friday, August 27th, two TeamRAACE drivers won season long points championships at the Mecca of mud in Minersville Big Diamond Raceway without winning their respective feature races. For Doug Manmiller in the tracks signature form of racing the 358 modified stock car it was his first ever championship. For Craig Whitmoyer it was his fourth sportsman modified track championship.
After starting 17th in the final regular season feature event, Doug Manmiller stayed out of trouble and powered Josh Bievers #14M modified to a sixth place finish, but most importantly, the 2010 track championship. Manmiller enjoyed 16 top ten finishes out of 19 events held this season. Ironically, he didnt win a main event during the years course, but a consistent effort earned a championship for the 42 year old TeamRAACE driver.
Joey Funk III led the opening lap of the Sportsman main event until he was involved in a turn four accident. Tim Fitzpatrick, who started eighth, advanced into the top spot on lap two and simply drove away to the victory. While TeamRAACE driver Craig Whitmoyer, in his self owned #99 powered to a fifth place finish in the sportsman feature event after starting 17th. Craig Whitmoyer entered the night just three points out of the standings point lead. His fifth place finish gave him a fourth career Sportsman track championship finishing the season long tussle just 36 points ahead of Brad Brightbill.
The RAACE Foundation would like to thank everyone involved with racing action at Big Diamond Raceway for supporting TeamRAACE and their efforts to Race Against Abuse of Children Everywhere. The RAACE Foundation would also like to congratulate both Craig Whitmoyer and Doug Manmiller, their teams and their car owners on winning these important titles, while at the same time doing their part to expose the hidden epidemic of child sexual abuse. Thanks to you and your efforts we are one turn closer to a world free of abuse.
