Many of the best known names in dirt track modified stock car racing will be at the 41st annual BPG Racing Freedom 76 dirt modified race being held at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, PA on Saturday night September 17th at 7 pm. With $20,000 plus lap prize money being offered for the victory, many top stars in the sport will be on hand including TeamRAACE drivers Billy Pauch, Jr., Jeff Strunk, Doug Manmiller and newcomer Alan Johnson.
New York State modified legend Alan Johnson joins TeamRAACE to drive The RAACE Foundation modified No. 21K owned by TeamRAACE driver Kyle Weiss for the Freedom 76’er. “The deal came together pretty quickly on Tuesday Night. After I learned about having to have my surgery just after finishing fourth in Grandview’s last point’s race, several people called to inquire about The RAACE Foundation/MAS Trucking/Bernie’s Italian Ice/U.S.S. Achey modified being available for the 76’er, but nothing serious had been discussed.” Weiss said.
“We had been running good all season but finally figured a few things out there for the last race and we figured we have a strong car, so after a conversation with Ernie Saxton we said why not. That’s when I got a call from one of Alan’s people asking if I would put him in my modified. I said sure if he calls me we can work it out. So, a little later on I answer the phone and its Alan Johnson! We agreed to terms and I am really excited about the opportunity to have one of the greatest dirt modified drivers ever as well as a boyhood hero of mine drive my race car! With over 600 modified wins and 5 Mr. Dirt Championships we have the car and driver that could win the whole thing” Weiss added.
Weiss is missing the race because of shoulder surgery earlier this week. He is recovering nicely and ready for Saturday. Weiss plans on returning next year to Grandview Speedway in hopes of improving on his 6th place points finish there in 2011. Anyone interested in sponsoring the No. 21K can contact kyle through his website: www.kyleweiss.com.
A full series of qualifying events along with a $1,000 to win Cash Dash and a Schaefer Motorsports Minuteman 20 will lead up to the Freedom 76 Classic.
